  • 4 green tomatoes sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. 1. Slice the green tomatoes about ¼ inch thick.
  2. 2. In one bowl, mix flour, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk. In a third bowl, place the cornmeal.
  3. 3. Dip each tomato slice in the flour mixture, then in the buttermilk, and finally coat with cornmeal.
  4. 4. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the tomatoes until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. 5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
