French Onion Soup Recipe
A classic French soup made with caramelized onions and beef broth, topped with crusty bread and melted cheese.

- 4 large onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- ½ cup dry white wine
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 4 slices French bread toasted
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
2. Stir in flour and cook for another 2 minutes.
3. Add beef broth, white wine, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
4. Preheat your oven's broiler.
5. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls. Top each with a slice of toasted French bread and a generous amount of grated Gruyere cheese.
6. Place bowls under the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
7. Serve hot and enjoy!
