Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken cut into pieces
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. In a large pot, combine chicken and broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until chicken is cooked through, about 30 minutes.
  2. Remove chicken from pot and let cool. Shred the meat, discarding bones and skin.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk to form a dough.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough into simmering broth. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. Add shredded chicken back to the pot. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
