  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 8 slices Rye bread
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter.
  2. 2. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized.
  3. 3. Form ground beef into patties, season with salt and pepper, and cook in the skillet until done.
  4. 4. Place a slice of cheese on each patty and let it melt.
  5. 5. Toast the rye bread slices in the skillet.
  6. 6. Assemble the patty melts by placing the patties with melted cheese and caramelized onions between two slices of toasted rye bread.
