Ingredients

Dough

  • 500 g All-purpose flour
  • 250 g Cold butter cubed
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 150 ml Cold water

Filling

  • 300 g Beef skirt steak diced
  • 200 g Potatoes diced
  • 150 g Onion chopped
  • 100 g Swede (rutabaga) diced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the cubed butter and rub it into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. 3. Gradually add cold water to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough briefly, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. 4. In another bowl, mix together the diced beef, potatoes, onion, swede, salt, and pepper.
  5. 5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into circles (about 20cm in diameter).
  6. 6. Place a portion of the filling mixture onto one half of each dough circle. Fold the other half over the filling and crimp the edges to seal.
  7. 7. Place the pasties on a baking sheet and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until golden brown.
