Ingredients 

Batter

  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 8 Hot dogs
  • as needed Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add milk and beaten egg to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Insert wooden skewers into hot dogs.
  5. Dip each hot dog into the batter, coating it completely.
  6. Carefully place the coated hot dogs into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
