Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 clove Garlic halved
  • 1 cup Dry white wine
  • 8 oz Gruyère cheese shredded
  • 8 oz Emmental cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoon Kirsch cherry brandy
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg freshly grated
  • 1 pinch Black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes

Instructions 

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic halves, then discard the garlic.
  2. Pour the wine into the pot and heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. Gradually add the cheeses, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the kirsch until smooth, then stir into the cheese mixture.
  5. Continue to cook, stirring, until the mixture is thick and smooth. Do not let it boil.
  6. Season with nutmeg and pepper. Serve with cubed French bread.
