Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Beef stew meat cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup Barley
  • 3 cups Beef broth
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 cup Carrots chopped
  • 1 cup Celery chopped
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Dried parsley

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, brown the beef stew meat over medium heat.
  2. 2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  3. 3. Pour in the beef broth and water, and bring to a boil.
  4. 4. Add the barley, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, thyme, and parsley.
  5. 5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until the barley and beef are tender.
  6. 6. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve hot.
