Ingredients

  • 1 lb Beef stew meat cut into cubes
  • 1 cup Pearl barley
  • 4 cups Beef broth
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 3 Carrots sliced
  • 2 stalks Celery sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, brown the beef stew meat over medium heat.
  2. 2. Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are softened.
  3. 3. Stir in the pearl barley, beef broth, and water. Bring to a boil.
  4. 4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef and barley are tender.
  5. 5. Season with dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. 6. Serve hot and enjoy!
