- 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
Remove from heat and stir in the cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat layers.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
